Crava Says "Hola Peru"
After an all night flight across the equator, we arrived at a hotel in Lima in time to catch free breakfast. Then we slept the morning away and later met up with a friend of Pastor Roland's, Carlos Silva. Carlos and his family took us to a local restaurant where we ate cow heart, which tasted surprisingly like the rest of the cow.
At 3pm the next day we took a flight to Cajamarca, the northern mountain town where we'll be spending the next 4 weeks.
It is currently our 5th day in Cajamarca, here are some photos and highlights to share our journey thus far:
We are living with professor and pastor, Dr. Alonzo Ramirez. His wife Ester is incredibly sweet, in fact I really love her...and her frequent cooking. So far she has taught me two recipes: Roland's favorite dinner dish and a high protein granola she makes.
Here we are at "Banos Del Inca". It's basically a hot spring that has private bath houses with really hot showers and baths. Ester said one missionary would come to Banos Del Inca everyday for her shower. Que Bueno!
On Saturday, Alonzo took us on a mountain trek, here are some favorite photos:
There is a pretty view from the third floor of the Ramirez casa, there are no rooms up there yet, only foundation and open space. Alonzo hopes to make it into a language institute one day.
Right now we are preparing for the English classes that we begin teaching tonight! So far we have about 10 classes with students ranging in age from 7-60 years and skill levels from teachers of English to people who have never heard a lick of it! We have encountered few people in Cajamarca who speak English, so it's a good place for us to really use and learn Spanish. Pray for us, and leave us some love in the comment section. Hasta La Vista. - Crava
ps- If I lived here, I would want to be a shepherdess!
